Sherry Glanville

Colour sustains me, energizes me and gives me a sense of order. Painting allows me to express my impressions through colour, texture and marks. I consider myself an abstract prairie landscape painter.

I begin my work with a drawing and the let the conversation flow between the paint, tools, and myself. I am more interested in the process, and I generally let my intuition be my guide.

Painters who have influenced me include The Group of Seven, especially Lawren Harris. Abstraction is my passion and I am guided by the work of Kandinsky,  Matisse, Hundertwasser and Hoffman.

For me, William Perehudoff’s statement most describes why I paint. “…my paintings carry no other message,  but the surprise, spontaneity and optimism of colour”.
